Gear up

Decided to head to town to pick up some gear for our next trip. Went through the likelike tunnel to see what repairs they were working on. Hope they fix it soon.

New snorkel, line, hooks, rubber all add up.

My friend AJ also hooked me up with this killer Gaji lure!  I feel like going fishing now.

Life's Lessons

Been teaching this 9 year old boy about life's lessons.
We learn to have fun!  Know your passion and pursue it 110%.
We learn to give.  It is written, "it's better to give than to receive".
We learn to share. Some people may not be as fortunate as you.
We learn to respect. The key to unlocking the door to local people.
And we learn to appreciate. Every day is not always sunny so learn to deal with those rainy days and pick out those colors to brighten your day!

Cost of fishing

Give a boy a fish feed him for today...
Teach a man to fish...
And he will need to buy poles, reels, hooks, line, bait, ice, oil, lures, electronics, outriggers, truck, boat...

Red Sea Salt

No waves, to windy to dive, fish not biting? Time to make more Red Sea salt. Everywhere we travel its a must bring item.
Lots of herbs and spices are added and my eyes burn so gotta put on my mask.
Here is the final product. Now all we need is fresh fish to make poke.

Boat repairs

My cushions on my boat has been falling apart. I try and get the most out of it but when vinyl is peeling off and foam is flat it's time to get another cushion or two.
This little transitor radio been doing the job but attenae broke off and having hard time get good reception so decided time to upgrade.
Went to one of the must shop stores when you have a boat and got some new tunes. I hope I can hear still the reels scream when the fish bites!

Dolphin watching day!

What a beautiful day it was to go fishing so that's was the plan.
Found the Dolphins and watched them play, jump, spin and hung out with them till we got dizzy and bored then..
Found some porpoises and had about a hundred surround us. We were hoping to find mr. or mrs. Ahi below but not today, so we called it an early day.

Surf or Fish?

South swell continues to roll in with some fun head high surf. Got a few but ended up chatting with friends about our recent trip to Indo.
Seems like two months since I last went fishing. My refrig sash stock is low so think its time to refill? Tomorrow should still have some waves but might have to go to the fish market instead?

Magic board ordered

Met up with Wade Tokoro to order another board.  Carbon fiber on rear rails helps to keep the fcs plugs from popping out.  Having a good shaper to know your style and needs is so important in creating that magic board. Wade is one of the best shapers on the planet!

Board looks good! 5'5 x 18 3/8" x 2 1/8"

Dressed to kill

After I came in from surfing I seen the Khon2 new crew filming the closing shakas. Some of friends made the cut like Chandler and his two kids. So cool to watch these to groms surf. Unfortunately I didn't make the edit cut. Ha ha!
Lots of rain kept lots of surfers out of the water today due to dirty water, not me.
Mahalo to our sponsor Hatch custom spearguns for hooking me up with a new wetsuit. Been getting all kinds of comments about my worn out suits. Can't wait to test it out and kill some fish.

Hanapaa!

My friend AJ caught a huge marlin aka "donkey" or "pointy nose ahi" today! So big it didn't fit across the boat.
Lots of smoke marlin with this bad boy. Congrats!
South swell arrives on time, for some exercise.

Expression Session

Watching the Hurley Pro and the expression session is on! Legends Mark Richards, Peter Townend and Ian Cairns officiating the heat.
Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew at age 60.
Cheyne Horan ripping.
Even Shaun Thomson was carving at age 60. Michael Ho, Simon Anderson also was in the lineup. So cool to see this heritage heat. I hope I'm still surfing hard at age 60.

Dark skies go dive

Surf is junk and dark skies were in the forecast for today, so what's our plan? Go diving! Some call us crazy!
Met Kirby and Kekoa at the dock and off we went. Might as well get wet underwater with all the rain.
Visibility was not bad considering the conditions.
It's been over a year since I ate kumu so we got a bunch of reef fish.
Looking forward to some fry and steamed fish tonight.
The drive home was pretty bad.
Drive safe everyone!
