Rainbow day!

Rainy day in Hawaii!  Cold front passed through the islands.

But where there is rain you can also find a rainbow!  Spectacular double rainbow to end the day.

Fish & Dive Expo Pau!

What a busy week we had!  Preparing for the Fish & Dive Expo at the blaisdell was a lot of hard work.

Day 1 line was going around the building.

Great to see Merlinda with all her fans!

Always fun to see the Hatch boys in the hood.  Strike that pose Mike!

Even the Ko ohana stopped by to say hello.  Great event and lots of memories.  Mahalos to all the organizers and our Red Sea crew for all their hard work.  And for all our friends who visited our booth and supported us we truly appreciate your friendship.

Da_Satos Shoot

Recently I've been filming with Da_Sato ohana and I've overwhelmed by how awesome this family is…Papa Dana posted this picture while we were on location while 4 year old Austyn was sharing her story and 6-year sister Kinsey asked her questions.  Mom Kristin also was sharing their family values and how they teach their kids to love the ocean.  Its going to be a great show!

Thank you Kinsey for the cute card.  Look out HSD, we have a new diver in town...

South Swells

South swell in October? Yes sir!  Wax up and get barreled!  Tahiti was solid 10-15 ft so we should get some overhead waves for sure.  See you in the lineup.

Mahi Madness

Happy Aloha Friday!  More Mahi madness continues.  Gold bars still biting.  Lotsa great weather with light winds, good waves and great company!  Have a nice weekend and remember to check us out next weekend Oct. 27-28 at the Neil Blaisdell arena at the Fish/Dive Expo.  10-6 pm.

Pupus

Pupu hour is on!  So fresh!  Fun waves all over the island.  More to come along with some big stuff up north!

Gold Feevah!

Water has been like sheet glass lately so decided to make a run to restock our refrigerator for this weeks dinner.  Lotsa scum and debri in the water so you know what that means?

Dark grey skies in a distance.  We were lucky not to get too wet.

Picked up a nice 30 lb bull mahi.

Got a bunch of gold bars today and lotsa fun on the Red Sea boat.  Mahalos to our Red Sea crew for their hard work catching, cleaning and cooking.

Box of Chocolates?

Who wants to go fishing?  Brent Ching got the pass today!

Owen Adams Sr. was down to go!  Owen is a expert bird spotter! Not sure if he is looking for birds or sleeping?  Set one big lure and rest of smaller sized lures. Got a few aku first in the boat then BAM!  Something takes my big lure?

Owen cranks, I handline and in 20 minutes we see color.  Not sure what it is  until the very last moment, AHI!  

Get it in the boat and reset the lines now with all my first string players in action.  15 minutes later KABOOM!  Both riggers slam down.  It appears the lines are crossed but we are not sure?  Brent grabs one reel and I grab the other and we crank!  Notice Brent reels fast and I reel fast at the same time.  When he slows, I slow…Oh No!  Tangle?  We managed to get the leaders to the boat with big yellow sickles coming up!  It's doing its pinwheel circles, I start yelling "Hold on, keep it tight"! With teamwork we somehow get in the boat with cheers all over!

Who would believe?  We do!  

We even found this sunfish in the belly of the Ahi!

Meet Da Satos!

Meet the Sato family!  Dana, Kristin, Austyn (Age 4) and Kinsey (Age 6).  This family has all the right tools to make for a successful family.

The kids are awesome!  They can dive, swim and got some tako action today!  One was about 5 lbs.

Family shot!  They believe in taking their kids outdoors vs. playing video games indoors.  They love to dive!

Wash and Clean Day?

Still some fun ones up north shore.  Got a few at Rocky Point then came in to go diving but water was too dirty so came home to wash and clean...

Walaka Waves

Hurricane Walaka delivered some fun waves today so waited for the window and went out to grab a few before the winds came up and tore it apart.

The swell direction was southwest so had to find the right spot but well worth it if you got a few.  These types of waves rise and fall fast so timing is everything!  Surf safe everyone!

North Shore Swell #1

First swell of the season and it was pumping past few days.  Glad to get the gills wet and looking forward to some fun waves this winter with the boys!  Surf safe and watch out for those sharks...

Stars and Stripes

Another long but fun day on the water looking for our dinner.  We haven't got a billfish all year so we were thankful to catch this nice hebi/spearfish/stripey.  Really good sashimi, better than ono.

Also this big cow jumped our Gaji 7 inch lure that was almost 30 lbs.  Cat did the leader as I gaffed it and flew in the boat.  Mahalos to the Red Sea crew for a great day!
