What is a Ichthyologist?

What is a Ichthyologist? It's not a insect, fruit, or medication. Basically someone who studies fish. Meet Richard Pyle (right) one of the premier fish scientist of our era. I was so humbled to meet this guy on my last trip and he loves his job as much as me. After meeting him I realized how much more I need to learn about the various fish out there. He has gone deeper underwater than most scuba divers and has even been to the twighlight zone and back. Check out this presentation he gave for TED Talk. http://www.ted.com/talks/richard_pyle_dives_the_twilight_zone.html

(from Greek: ἰχθύς, ikhthus, "fish"; and λόγος, logos, "study") is the branch of zoology devoted to the study of fish.
Well the North Swell came up as forecasted so decided to try and grab a few waves before the end of the day. The drive down the pineapple fields is always breath taking. Passed Lani's, Chuns, Waimea, then pulled into...

Pupukea beach where it looked fun. After watching the pros at portugal I felt like surfing a beach break with barrels. It wasn't super tubos but good enough. Swell is dropping and winds are still on the light side so time to go to the super market and see what's ons special for this weeks menu. Stay tuned...
