Windy weather, small surf, dirty water! Time to practice ping pong and cross train?

Windy Week

Went shopping for some jigs today to test out on our next Red Sea Ocean Adventure.  Hoping to catch a hamachi on the jig.  Its so neat to learn all these various ways to target and catch fish but so expensive, ha ha!

Lots of wind in the forecast as high pressure takes over.  Not much surf so perfect time to paint house, tune up your boat or do some Christmas shopping!

Prep & Pack

Welcome "Scoopy doo" to the Red Sea team!  Put on some secret doo doo boy colors to make up look winners.  Mahalos to Gaji lures for always putting out the finest lures for our crew to use.  We are very thankful to Allan and Gail Sato for all their support!

Also made my medium size ikima/onsen so if we wanna keep our fish alive or relax in the hot tup while fishing, ha ha!  Surf was fun past few days up north but looking like some small windy waves for this week.  Time to start packing!

Mahi Dinner

The calm after the storm.  Lot of dirty water with rubbish all over.

Rubbish means Mahis are around.  Got dinner!

Surf was fun today but more wet & windy weather in the forecast!  Rain will be coming from the east to west with March winds following.  Get the foul weather gear ready!

Mud Water

Wow how was that rain yesterday?  Rivers all open created havoc at the surf spots up north and eastside.  Mud water due to rivers opening with over 14 inches of rain in Waiahole area.

So we stayed indoors and ate fish all day!  

Fried Akule Dinner

Weather was nice before the rain so headed out for some shopping for this weeks dinner.  Not much birds so Al took a nap.  I would too if I had to work all night with no sleep.

Even this Cat could not look for birds.

But we did manage to find some bait.  Testing out the miniature ikima, 5 gallon bucket, ha ha!

And a few of their friends for our dinner.  Fried Akule is winners!  

Happy Chinese New Year!

What a beautiful day it was today!  Grabbed a few waves with the boys and headed back to get the Red Sea Boat ready for the weekend.  Weather is changing everyday and wet weather in the forecast for the holiday as the front pushes the moisture back over the islands.

Happy Chinese New Year 2018!  I hear its the year of the doggie?  Well gotta get some gear ready now so have a great weekend!

Olympics Sashimi

Been watching the winter olympics?  Cool to see these snowboarders jamming.  One day will have to try this?  Maybe sooner than you think!

Tried the hawaiian hamachi sashimi.  Was not bad but I think I still prefer Aku.

Took another spin out on the Red Sea boat with the crew and got lucky!  Gold and silver medals for this week!

Weather Forecast

Weekend outlook looks like another nice day on Sunday as chilly north winds veer northeast and southeast on Monday.  Wet weather as another cold front approaches 900 miles northwest of Kauai.  Winds will be changing so plan your week accordingly!

Rubbish Ono

Another perfect day in Hawaii.  Calm seas called for us to go fishing.   Al, Cat and me woke up early to find the worm.

Instead we found a big net that tried to run away in the drift but we found it again.  And beneath the rubbish was a nice ono.

Got a mixed bag of fish for this weeks menu.  Mahalos to the Red Sea crew for another good day!

Surf & Shop

North swell dropping but still overhead and fun!  Took the quiver of Tokoro boards down to see what would be best to ride.  Ended up with the 5'10" today.  Another bump should be coming in on Friday but winds are picking up too.   Ice box empty again, may need to go shopping soon!

Day 2 Kaula

Watch day 2 Kaula Rock action as local boys Danny Kanahele, Kalani Matsusaka, Jon Kam and his friends do some micro jigging!  Tues 8:30 pm  on Channel 12 or 1012 and all month.  Enjoy the show!

Super Bowl of Surfing

Dawn patrol with the boys!  No complaints with 4 guys out!

Came home to watch the super bowl of surfing!  Volcom Pipe Pro is on and Josh Moniz on fire!  Winning the competition.  

Moniz family is so proud!

Surf Safari

Another solid day of surf up north.  Got to surf with Wade, David, Aren and Bryant today. 

Even got to see some cool wildlife today.  Not very often you get to see live peacocks too!

Surf's Up!

Another epic day of surfing north shore.  Just five of us in the line up with perfect lefts.  Great to surf with my eastside boys.  Volcom pipe pro on for today!  Bigger swell coming Saturday!
