Went bike riding with Maika and Kai today. They turned off the TV and phone games and wanted a new adventure even willing to cross the bridge and explore outside their comfort zone.
We rode up and down steep hills and often had to stop and walk because we were tired but kept going forward. We wandered through the forest, got lost a little but got back on the path. Then we found the perfect view overlooking a beautiful lake.
They could see other kids down near the lake having fun and they wanted to feed the fish with bread they brought so we headed down another side path Kai found and unloaded the food to some happy fish. The ducks came and got their share as well.
They even got to push their bodies to the ultimate test in the deep bamboo forest. We talked about their experience and what was the best part of their ride. Then 10-year Maika says "U.K. (for Uncle Kyle), It's not the destination but the journey that matters most". Wise words to think about everyday!
