Wind and waves came down so we loaded up the Red Sea boat and headed out early to see what we could find. Searched high and low but not much action only a few rat akus. We kept the big lures out with the intent to go big or go home. So decided to head in and call it a day, then Cat and Al spot a fin behind our lure. Next it starts whacking the lure then BAM! Corner pole slams and we get to work. After 30 minute battle we get it to the boat and as I dispatch the fish the hook falls off and the fish starts floating away. Oh No! Should I jump in? I tell Cat to back up and we somehow get a gaff in the tail, then another gaff but it's not dead yet! I grab the bill and Al puts him to sleep and the rest was history.
Biggest marlin we caught thus far.
It was too big to fit in our boat probably over 300 lbs.
Mahalos to our Red Sea land and sea crew for another exciting day on the water. Timing is everything and we just so happen to be in the right place at the right time. Looking forward to some smoked marlin soon!
