Kona Day 2

Headed out at 700 am to look for action.

Found some Mahis at the buoy.

Then found some more.,.

Saw this guy and his son hook a shibi so we decided to try our luck.

Looked like a fish Lau Lau.

But it worked!

Solid catch with lots of fish. 

In past few days I seen three ahis that looks decent size so hope we get um soon. It's so cool to watch ahi underwater. 

Kona Mahi

Woke up early again to catch a flight to Kona this morning with Wendell, Puna and Conrad.

Straight to the harbor and ready to dive. 

We got a nice mahi for dinner. 

Took it a Chinese restaurant and we were  stuffed. Time to sleep!

Body board day

Day at the beach teaching these two boys how to body board.  My nephews starting early to enjoy the ocean.

Wax up da boards. 

Main thing have fun! One day you will get barreled!

Perfect 10 point rides all day!

Fishing Friends

This year I got to meet a lot of great fisherman! Aj was one of them along with Shawn, and many others who has taught me how to be a better fisherman. I still have a lot to learn but that's what makes it so fun and interesting. 

Fresh fish, pickled ginger and rice is the perfect dinner!

Wish for Fish

This week we got the early bird wake up call and joined the crowd at the pier. We had a request for Otaru but we hoped for Ahi too.

Set our lines at day break and wait for some action.

Found the porpoise aka puka heads and it was only a matter of time we would hook up.

First strike we let go a barracuda, next marlin shakes the hook, but we were able to get another bite later as James and Al work the reel.

Papa crow was happy as he got his wish.

On the menu

Did some filming with Merlinda Garma for next HSDTV show. Surfers going to enjoy this episode.

The Heeia Pier Deli is under new management.  New menu too, which wasn't that good.

On the other hand this store had lots on the menu to choose from. Grabbed a few more gear for the final ahi run. Surf is dropping so time to catch our dinner for the week.

These two boys wanted to body board so took um to where I started my surfing career. I told um how I started off on the Burger King tray to body boards to surfboards, and never regretted any minute of it. They had lots of fun so that awesome!
