Surf to Sleep

Surf check in Kenting with Keith and Kiki.
Beautiful scenery.
Quick surf with nobody out. Small but good to get wet.
Saimin for lunch.  Next on the agenda? Nap time..zzz

Dulan to Kenting

This morning the winds backed off so our local divers wanted to dive. We swam out 1/2 mile and water was clean.

A-jay caught a nice lobster for our lunch.

Blue Uhu was the catch of the day.

We had a nice lunch at their favorite restaurant and had to say goodbye to our new Dulan friends.

We arrived 90 minutes later in kenting via train and met up with Keith and Kiki.

Local style food is the way to go here.

Dulan Sugar Factory

Had Amis dinner with our divers down the road from our resort.
This is Dulan Sugar Factory. It's like wailiua sugar mill and does not operate anymore.
Neat to see the details.
Kekoa had his private room.
And I had mine with mosquito net and punks.
Our shared bathroom but we were so tired we skipped our bath.
It's cool place to stay and live like the locals.
Nearby art pub. Weather permitting we will try another shoredive with the locals.

Taiwan divers

We woke up 500 am and headed back to taitung to meet the local divers. 5 hour train ride.
Met a surfer on the train and saw 3 times today.
Unloaded our gear and got ready to film.
Ajay is one of the local divers who I filmed today.  2 of his friends came but no fish today. Will try tomorrow weather permitting.
After our dive we had to try the pork  Manapua and it was winners.
Kekoa also got the pork soup. Time to check in the Dulan sugar factory resort.

Biking and Bubble Tea

Taiwan is celebrating a bike festival which is one our main reasons for coming. Over 300 riders and here are some of the costumes of the Taiwan culture.
We made a pit stop around sun moon lake to get the shot from above.
We had lunch ate this place that served fruit with every dish. Here Henry Ou is getting some steam fish.
Henry is one of hawaii's top Chinese travel agents and our entertainer. He makes everyone laugh and loves his games apps.
Unfortunately my clothes did not dry so gotta dry clothes on the bus. Keeping the underwear out of view.
Ended the day with one of my highlights here to drink Taiwan bubble tea. I drank 3 cups!
So good even the dogs love it!

Onsen Wash

Today we visited a monastery and met one of the masters who let me take a picture. All I needed was my robe I got the job.

Later we went to a tea farm and learned how to make tea. Karl Kao from the Chinese newspaper agency showed us how it's done.  I've been drinking a lot of Taiwan tea lately.  So good!
Lori Santiago and Andrew prepping the tea leaves for 20 min. Then it's dried for 30 minutes.
This is the drying oven.
And we made it to Sun Moon lake area at Fuli hot spring resort.
2 king size beds?  Sleeps 4 people.
My own onsen! I had to jump in and do my static breath holds.
Huge shower area!
After my onsen I didn't want to waste all this 100 gallons of water so decided to do my laundry. Off to ride a bike!

Room with a View

So far our hotels have been like the lifestyles of the rich and famous.  The naruwayan hotel here.
Nice pool with nobody in it? Not even kids?
Last night we stayed at the 85, tallest hotel in kaohsiung.
We stayed on the 70th floor. Jovi Santiago from Kssk radio gets a little fearful of heights.
It's to bad we don't get to enjoy the hotel since we are on the go but we got to our room at 11:00 pm and the bed never felt so good.
And then I open my shades and see this! Wow, now this is what i call a room with a view.
