Labor Day surf

South swell continues with some overhead surf. Relaxing day, lots of bbqs and seeing friends in the line up.

Perfect timing

We caught last swell before our trip, got fun waves on our trip and back to Hawaii in time for more swell. Waved my board for my ride in but my boatman didn't come pick me up so had to paddle in...

NRH Banyak Photos

We were very fortunate to have Nicholas Hoermann from NRH photos with us on this trip and he got some great shots of the group.  Capturing the moments of a magical surf session, colorful sunset or secluded island is definitely an art.  I remember this session out at one of our favorite rights like it was yesterday.  Overhead surf, just our group out with some long walls.

A good photographer doesn't get it the way of the surfer and I didn't even see Nick taking this shot.  You can see how shallow this spot is with the inside ledge reef just a few feet below.  There are two take off areas with the inside section racing over a shallow reef providing a good barrel.  Its great to see no building in the background but only the natural landscape of trees.

The waves are fast here so I was lucky to get a turn in on this wave.  Mahalo Nick for the sick photos and we look forward to more adventures together with you in the future.

Long ride home

Back to sibolga and gearing up for the long ride home. 

Going to miss this refrigerator and all the cool drinks.

Packing up the boards and dive gear is always a science in making everything fit. Al is a master packer.

A cancelled 1 hour flight turned into a long 10 hour crazy car ride. I'm sure everyone will never forget this drive.

Most of all we're going to miss hanging out with our group everyday on board the Dream. We scored great waves with no crowds and got to experience another awesome adventure. Thanks everyone for all your friendship and support through our journey to Indo. Can't wait to do it all over again next year!

Banyaks Surf Pics

Each day our boat man Asan would drop off our group of surfers right in the line up.  No such thing as paddling out or paddling in.  Valet drop off and pick up anytime. If you are tired and want to come in just wave your board and you get picked up.

Sat Freedman also got some nice waves and here he was lining up on a nice one.  Sat was the only body boarder and was able to get deep.

James Oshiro hasn't surfed for one year so this was his anniversary wave and our group cheered him on.

Jimmy Nakano also got to test his backside attack.  Setting up to go 12 o'clock.

Pupu hour

This was Andrew imamuras first boat trip and he had a blast! Bintang hour started  early for him this day.

The boat crew likes to eat small fish for dinner. They bought some variety to cook.

Their style of sashimi is very skinny slices.

Got lucky with an Ono in the shallows.

Teamwork means pupu hour.
