Taitung Art and Culture

Today we took a 1 hr flight to Taitung to learn about the Bunun tribe.

Their village was set deep in the mountains.

They are very much into art and carvings.

Song and dance performance was educational .

Then we headed to the rice fields where they grow organic rice. Andrew from Kiku tv was ready to harvest some sticky rice.

With only 3 hours of sleep last night I was ready to take a nap. Found a cool place to power nap while others went bike riding around the rice fields.

Our dinner was traditional aboriginal cuisine with lots of veggies, fish, chicken, shrimp and even deer.

We ended our day with a visit to another artsy area where children displayed their colorful laterns.

Went to sleep at 100 am woke up at 400 am waited till 630 am for breakfast.

We made it to Taiwan! Easy travel with China Airlines and we begin the journey!

Pack light

The key for easy traveling is to pack light! It's not very often I can do this with all my camera, surf and dive gear. Well one blue bag is for me and the other green is my Hawaiian gift bag.

Bounce House

Had a great weekend celebrating my nephew, Maikas 9th birthday! He is growing up so fast!

He had his friends over and the bounce house was a big hit!

Even I had fun! Important to always keep up with the keikis and stay young at heart. Even if I got my share of burns from sliding all over.

New Rules for Maui

New rules effective Nov. 1, 2014 for Maui Divers and Fisherman.  Goat fish size and bag limits

Hawaii Administrative Rules chapter 13-95.1 sets new bag and size limits for several popular nearshore fish including kumu and uhu. The new rules will include a bag limit of no more than two uhu per person per day and prohibitions on the take of blue male uhu for the two large species (uhu ‘ele‘ele, and uhu uliuli). There will also be bag limits for these popular goatfish: kumu (no more than one), and moana kea and munu (no more than two).  The rules also set new minimum size limits for the two large uhu species (14 inches), all other uhu species (10 inches), the three large goatfish species: kumu, moano kea, and weke nono (12 inches), and all other goatfish species (8 inches), provided that the take of ‘oama (juvenile weke‘a less than 5 inches in length) is allowed by hook-and-line only.  For more details  More information

Saw this good fight so had to take a photo. Probably the best wing Chun I've ever seen.
