Youtube Christmas Island 2016

Mike Uyehara worked fast and hard every night after we got back from all day of diving and fishing and put together this enjoyable video.  Thanks Mike!

Surf still good!

Dawn Patrol still fun double overhead barreling waves. Took out my gun and got to surf with Wade, Jon and Marteen. Winds will start picking up over the weekend so go get some!

Enjoy the ride!

Perfect timing to catch one of last big north swells. Light winds and double overhead barreling waves with the Eastside board riders.
Swell peaking today so grab some waves if you can and enjoy the ride.

Xmas Day 5

Today we got to watch Maui boys Chad and Craig in action in the lagoon. New friends we made and lots of fun.
James Oshiro in action under water.
But Ahi fever took over again. Bloody decks.
Lost one to the Sharks.
But landed lots more. I can do this all day if we had more ice.
So here we are 7 pm getting our dry fish ready. Another awesome day!

Xmas Island Day 1

We made to Kiribati and met a few other fisherman seeking the big uluas.
Our boat for the day.
Mike got a nice grouper and shared it with the locals.
James and found the birds and let out our Gaji lures and bam! No gaff so had to shoot one with my speargun. What a great warm up day!

Delayed but not disappointed

Woke up early to finish packing and checked in only to find out our flight was delayed 15 hours. Better we get there safely than ride a broken plane and not get there at all, right? I'd rather be stuck in Hawaii than some airport for sure.
Got to reshuffle and now we are good to go! Red eye flight then straight to the ocean to surf dive and fish!

Surf Prep Pack

Took a spin up east then north to grab a few waves. Good surfing with wade and Marteen today. This view will never get old.
Then took a spin to town to tune up my speargun at Maui sporting goods.  Mahalo to Wendell and Brandon for their help.
Debating if I have room to fit a couple poles in the bag? Perhaps we can get an early Christmas present bonus on our upcoming trip.

Beautiful serene hazy morning.
My cousins wife Jung really wanted to go fishing today so she was ready and willing.
Al Ah Nee was looking hard for birds but they were few and far between.
We did manage to find some dinner.
Good times to be had today.
Fresh sashimi!
